There are currently four steps to receive Safe Ministry Clearance, ready to serve in a team ministering to children or youth here at Summer Hill Church.
Those steps are:
- gaining a Working With Children Check
- completing the Safe Ministry Training Course
- submitting a Safe Ministry Check
- providing contact details (so you can receive automated reminders about renewal of 1. & 2.), along with permission for your Safe Ministry Information to be stored securely online.
Below you will find all necessary links and information for completing these steps.
Once you have completed steps 1-3, return to this form to provide your Safe Ministry Details.
Then you'll be ready to join in with a children's or youth ministry team!

WWCCs need to be updated before they expire every 5 years.

(Select the ‘Essentials’ course, unless you have completed Safe Ministry Training within the last 3 years)
The course is delivered online and takes approximately 4 hours. It is mostly made up of modules you can work through at your own pace, with a one-hour scheduled webinar towards the end of the course.
Volunteers are required to complete the shorter ‘Refresher’ version of the course within each subsequent 3 year period after completing the ‘Essentials’ course.
Before submitting your Safe Ministry Check, take some time to familiarise yourself with these documents:

The first step of the online form will be to enter our Church's unique Safe Ministry Check ID, which is 00131.
This ensures that your records will only be available to our Rector Steve Frederick, the Diocesan Registrar, and the head of the Office of the Director of Safe Ministry (the diocesan professional standards unit).
To securely keep records of Safe Ministry Details, Summer Hill Church uses SaMRO, a system designed specifically for this purpose.
- SaMRO is set up to comply with Diocesan and NSW Government requirements; backup and security is professionally maintained.
- The following details will be recorded: Name, email, Church/Parish, Age Bracket (ie Junior Leader), D.O.B., WWCC related information, and your Safe Ministry Training & Clearance status.
- SaMRO provides the benefit of sending automated reminders to volunteers when WWCC and Safe Ministry Training renewal dates are approaching (below you can opt to receive these via email only, or SMS as well).
